Helen died May 28, 2005 in Marietta, Greenville Co., SC. OBIT: Faye Garrett Reid, 72, of 183 Grant Road, wife of the late Ford Reid Jr., died Saturday, May 28, 2005, at her home.
Born in Riverside, Calif., she was a daughter of the late Hosie Lee and Sue Louise McGarity Garrett. Mrs. Reid had worked at Hudson Studios; she was a homemaker and was a member of Slater Baptist Church.
Surviving are seven children, Wade Reid and wife Vicki, the Rev. Michael Reid and wife Linda, the Rev. Mitchell Reid, the Rev. Earl Reid and wife Karen, Daniel Reid, Faye Johnston and husband Glenn and Robby Reid and wife Candy; three brothers, Arthur Garrett, Daniel Garrret and Joel Garrett; two sisters, Adelyn Foster and Laura Garrett; 13 grandchildren, Jason, Aletha, Tracy, Tiffany, Eric, Mark, Daniel, Beverly, Kristy, Sendy, Sonny, Brent and Nikki and 11 great-grandchildren, Lauren, Emmelyn, Miranda, Justin, Madison, Jackson, Dawson, Channing, Ty, Hunter and Shem.
She was predeceased by a son, Harold Van Reid, three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at DayStar Baptist Fellowship with burial in Coleman Memorial Cemetery.
She married Ford Ross Reid JR 1958. Ford was born April 20, 1932 in Greenville, Greenville Co. MS. Ford was the son of Ford Ross Reid. Ford died March 1, 2004. OBIT: Ford Reid Jr., 71, of 183 Grant Road, died Monday, March 1, 2004, at his home.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Ford Sr. and Maebelle Rider Reid. Mr. Reid was a U.S. Army veteran, was a retired construction worker and was of the Baptist Faith.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Faye Garrett Reid, of the home; seven children, Wade Reid, the Rev. Michael Reid, the Rev. Mitchell Reid, the Rev. Earl Reid, Daniel Reid, Faye Johnston and Robby Reid; five sisters and brothers, Lib Redding, Margaret Albert, Bertie Bowers, Harold Reid and Pauline Galloway; 11 grandchildren, Jason, Aletha, Tracy, Tiffany, Eric, Mark, Daniel, Beverly, Kristy, Sendy and Sonny; and eight great-grandchildren, Lauren, Emmelyn, Miranda, Justin, Madison, Jackson, Dawson and Channing.
He was predeceased by a son, Harold Van Reid; and a brother, Buck Reid.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at DayStar Baptist Fellowship, with burial at Coleman Memorial Cemetery.
