He married twice. He married Lillian Mae Smith. Lillian was born October 8, 1899 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. Lillian was the daughter of Thomas Elzeberry (Nong) Smith and June Louise Lofton. Lillian died May 21, 1924. Lillian was buried in New Salem Church of Christ Cemetery, Lincoln Co., MS.
He married Daisy East March 18, 1917. Daisy was born April 3, 1894. Daisy was the daughter of Patrick Grant East and Anna Edwards. Daisy died March 22, 1977 in Port Arthur, Jefferson Co., TX.

Lynwood Smith, of Wesson, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, at New Salem Church of Christ in Brookhaven with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 2 until 9 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral home on North Jackson Street. Bro. Smith, 83, died Oct. 24, 2007, at King's Daughters Medical Center. He was born in Lincoln County on March 27, 1924, to Rance Smith and Lillian Smith. He was a retired Church of Christ evangelist, which allowed him to travel the United States and the world. Bro. Smith was the author of several books and had written numerous gospel hymns that had been recorded. He was a member of New Salem Church of Christ. Preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors are merous cousins, nephews and nieces who loved him dearly.
