John died December 16, 2014 in Draketown, Haralson Co., GA. OBIT: J. R. ‘Bobby’ Goldin, of Temple (Draketown Community) passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born December 10, 1930, son of the late John Maddox Goldin and Eula Roxane Eaves Goldin. Mr. Goldin was a high school graduate of Buchanan High School, attended Georgia Tech and West Georgia College. He was a member of the Draketown Baptist Church and he served in the U.S Army Reserve. After retiring from a long career at Lockheed, he founded Draketown Gas Company, which he owned and operated for a number of years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lavern Rose Goldin in 2006.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Stover Goldin of Temple; two daughters and their spouses, Joy and Tim Pope of Tallapoosa, Jo and John Holder, Temple; grandchildren, Jaeson and Britney Smith, Tallapoosa, Jon Adam Holder of Richfield, Minn., Laura Smith and Kyle Scott, Decatur, Erin and Michael Holder of Temple; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley White, Temple, Virginia "Jennie" Hutcheson of Temple, Diane and Donald Hamil of Bremen, Violet and Jimmy Shadrix of Temple, Carolyn Hitchcock of Dallas; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry and Elaine Stover of Oakwood; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Anderson of Commerce.
Services will be held in the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Mr. Jaeson Smith and Reverend Wendell Rush officiating.
Courtney White, Ricky White, Shane Shadrix, Clay Hamil, Mark Bradley, Jeff Bradley and Dwight Singleton will serve as pallbearers.
He married twice. He married LaVern Hellen Rose. LaVern was born November 22,1932 in Paulding Co, GA. LaVern was the daughter of Wright Rose and Audrey Baggett. LaVern died March 28, 2006 in Floyd Co., GA. OBIT: Mrs. LaVern Hellen Rose Goldin, 73, of Temple, Georgia, passed away March 28, 2006.
Mrs. Goldin was born on November 22, 1932 in Paulding County, Georgia, daughter of the late Josephe Wright Rose and Audrey Baggett Rose. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Untied Methodist Church and retired accountant for Draketown Gas.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. John Robert "Bobby" Goldin of Temple; two daughters, Joy and Tim Pope of Tallapoosa and Jo and John Holder of Temple; one sister, Sonja Bradley of Temple and four grandchildren, Adam Holder, Erin Holder, Jaeson Smith and Laura Smith.
Funeral Services were held on Thursday, March 30, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Hightower Funeral Home in Bremen with Rev. Wendell Rush officiating.
Entombment followed in The Goldin Family Cemetery. Mark Bradley, Jeff Bradley, Courtney White, Shane Shadrix, Mike Campbell, and John Goldin served as pallbearers.
John R. (Bobby) Goldin and LaVern Hellen Rose had the following children:
