Leural died April 30, 2008 in Portsmouth, Scioto Co., OH. OBIT: Leura Lee Downey, 83, of Portsmouth, Ohio passed away Thursday April 30th at the Southern Ohio Medical Center Hospice Center in Portsmouth. Born September 27, 1925 the daughter of the late German and Sallie (Stafford) McKenzie. She was a retired employee of the Jackson County Schools and attended Christ Community Church of Portsmouth.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Daniel Downey and a brother, Clyde McKenzie of Jackson.
She is survived by three daughters: Betty (Charles) Smith and Loretta Johnson both of Portsmouth and Brenda Mae (David) Litteral of Wheelersburg, Ohio; one son Danny (Susan) Downey of Jackson. Surviving also are two sisters: Dixie Christman of Jackson, Eda Colvin of Minford; three brothers Dave McKenzie, Ben McKenzie and George McKenzie of Jackson, and sisters-in-law Sue McKenzie of Jackson and Cora Downey of Clawson Michigan; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, several nieces and nephews.
Friends may Monday from 4 to 8 at the Mayhew Funeral Home in Jackson where funeral services are to be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will follow in the Bethel Ridge Cemetery.
She married Daniel David Downey. Daniel was born January 8, 1920. Daniel was the son of James W Downey and Mary L Hickman. Daniel died January 4, 2001 in Portsmouth, Scioto Co., OH.
Leural Lee Mckenzie and Daniel David Downey had the following children:
