Calvin died July 29, 2012 in Durham, Durham Co., NC. OBIT: Calvin Simmons “Cuz” Ayscue, 82, of 1067 Epsom-Rocky Ford Road, Henderson, died Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
Born in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Melvin Wellons Ayscue and Mary Tharrington Ayscue.
Mr. Ayscue was a retired tobacco farmer.
An active member of the Epsom Community, he was a lifelong member of Liberty Christian Church and was a charter member of the Epsom Volunteer Fire Department.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, at 11 a.m., at Liberty Christian Church, conducted by the Rev. Bryan Breland, the Rev. Tammy Ayscue and the Rev. Clyde Waiden.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Juanita Smith Ayscue; a daughter, Kathy A. Causby and husband, Stan, of Raleigh; three sons, Gilbert Ayscue and wife, Barbara, of Powell, Tenn., Mark Ayscue and wife, Mary Lynn of Rocky Ford, and Michael Ayscue and wife, Michelle, of Epsom; two sisters, Sally A. Cottrell of Henderson and Fannie A. Faulkner of Clearwater, Fla.; four grandchildren, Shane Ayscue, Emily Lynn Ayscue, Daniel Ayscue and Marci Brandt; two step-grandchildren, Eddie Lehman and Justin Lehman; and four step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys A. Edwards and Elaine A. Wrenn; and four brothers, Jack Ayscue, M.W. Ayscue Jr., Richard Ayscue and Donald Ayscue Sr.
He married twice. He married Mary Juanita Smith. He married an unknown person Octoer 12,1949 in Kittrell, Vance Co., NC.
Calvin Simmons Ayscue and Mary Juanita Smith had the following children:
