Ralph died September 2, 2007 in Augusta, Richmond Co., GA. OBIT: Mr. Ralph D. Carter, 76, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 2, 2007 at University Hospital, Augusta, Ga., husband of the beloved Peggy Annette Carter. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Harlem Memorial Cemetery with full military honors accorded with Dr. Robert J. Blankenship and Rev. Gerald McNutt officiating. Mr. Carter was a native of Oconee County, Watkinsville, Georgia and lived in Harlem since 1962. He retired from the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War. After retirement, he worked several years with Paschal Price at Harlem Building Materials. He later worked directly with T.A. Anderson in the Cabinetry business and developed his skills at carpentry and specialty wood working. The remaining years of his life he earned the nickname of Harlem's "Mr. Fix-It" for turning one man's trash into another man's treasure. He loved to help others with his special skills and always offered a special kindness. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. Survivors include two sons, Mark and (Donna) Carter of Augusta and Don B. Carter of Grovetown; one daughter, Melanie C. Carter, Augusta; one brother, Jack Carter; and one sister, Mary Bell, both of Watkinsville, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Lindsay Smith, Russell Carter, Abbey Carter, Brett Carter, Harrison Carter, Sarah Carter, Dustin Elliott, Brian Davis. Pallbearers will be Military and Honorary Pallbearers will be Grandchildren.
He married Peggy Annette Lee February 11,1956 in Oconee Co., GA. Peggy was born March 15, 1935 in Watkinsville, GA. Peggy was the daughter of Russell Lee and Lois B Huff. Peggy died February 17, 2001 in Columbia Co., GA.
