Roma died September 4, 2011 in Carmel, Hamilton Co., IN. OBIT: Roma Natheline Stout Ellington 90, of Carmel, IN, passed away on September 4, 2011. She was born on April 20, 1921 to the late Harold and Lillian (Parrot) Stout in Litchfield, Illinois. Roma graduated from Litchfield High School class of 1938. Roma married Alfred (Duke) Ellington and he preceded her in death in 2005. Roma was a member of Carmel United Methodist Church. Family always came first to Roma whom will greatly miss her. Mrs. Ellington is survived by her two children, Douglas and his wife, Sharon of Carmel, Susan and her husband, Richard Thurmond of Hoover, AL. Roma had seven loving grandchildren, Douglas II and his wife, Lisa, Christopher and his wife, Kathy, Mark and his wife, Dawn and Todd and his wife, Mandy Ellington, Julie and her husband, LeRoy Coryea, Scott and his Misty Thurmond and Sarah and her husband John Chavez. Mrs. Ellington was a proud great-grandmother to twenty. A memorial service will be held at Carmel United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 9, 2011,
She married Alfred (Duke) Goodwin Ellington August 1, 1940 in Litchfield, Montogomery Co., IL. Alfred was born December 3, 1914 in Donnellson, IL. Alfred was the son of William Alfred Ellington JR and Lela Goodwin. Alfred died February 24, 2005 in Carmel, Hamilton Co., IN. OBIT: Alfred G. "Duke" Ellington 90, of Carmel, passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005. He was born Dec. 3, 1914 in Donnellson, IL to the late William & Lela Goodwin Ellington. He was a graduate of Westminster College in Fulton, MO. Duke retired in 1977 as a chemist from Caterpillar Tractor after 42 years. Memorial services will be Saturday, Feb. 26 at 11:00 a.m. in Carmel United Methodist Church, of which he was a member. Friends may call Friday, Feb. 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center-Carmel. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Roma Stout Ellington; children, Douglas Ellington & Susan Thurmond; grandchildren, Douglas, II, Chris, Mark & Todd Ellington, Julie Coryea, Sarah Chavez & Scott Thurmond; 15 great-grandchildren; and brother, Paul Ellington
