OBIT: Janice Grimes, 63, of Amarillo died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Northside United Pentecostal
Church with the Rev. Rodger Johnson and the Rev. Larry Ellis officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in Grady Cemetery in Grady,
N.M. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Grimes was born March 10, 1944, in Clovis, N.M., to
W.C. Hutchins Jr. and Pearl Houlette Hutchins. Granddaughter of Ernest Earl and Bessie Sadie McLean Houlette from Friona, Tx. After starting
school in Clovis she finished high school at Highland High in Albuquerque, N.M. Mrs. Grimes had a wide career at state and federal
government offices, including the U.S. Attorney's office, Border Patrol, Kirkland Air Force Base in Albuquerque and Social Security. She
retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Mrs. Grimes always had a love for children, so she began teaching Sunday school and
children's church at a young age and continued until her health prevented her from doing so this year. She helped start several
churches in Virginia and was involved in bus ministries, Sunday schools, music ministries and Christmas plays. She was a writer for the Word
of Flame Publications Sunday school curriculum. Mrs. Grimes began substitute teaching in Canyon Independent School District in 1995 where
she fell in love with special needs individuals and began working full time with them at Randall High School until the end of the 2006
school year. She married Jerry W. Grimes in Albuquerque on April 26, 1969. She worked while Jerry finished his mechanical
engineering degree at Lamar University in Beaumont. Jerry went to work at Westinghouse in South Boston, Va., where they lived for 20 years.
They moved to Amarillo in 1991. Jerry and son Jordan Grimes want to express special thanks to their many friends and family for
their generous support, prayers and continued thoughtful prayers. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Grimes; a son, Jordan
Grimes of CA; a brother, Leslie Hutchins of New Mexico; her stepmother, Louise Hutchins of AZ; and a host of friends, co-workers, church
family and students, all of whom she considered to be her extended family. She was buried in the Grady City Cemetery, Grady, Curry Co., NM
