He married Malinda Dunigan February 29, 1924. Malinda was born December 28, 1905. Malinda was the daughter of Hiram D. Dunigan and Pernecia McFarland. Malinda died June 9, 1996. Malinda and Lawrence were was buried in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Lincoln Co., MS
