Curtis died March 8, 2008 in Jackson, Hinds Co, MS. OBIT: Services for Curtis P. "C.P." Smith, of Natchez, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, at First Pentecostal Church with burial in New Salem Church of Christ Cemetery in Brookhaven. The Rev. James Johnson will officiate. Laird Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the church and on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Mr. Smith, 73, died March 8, 2008, in Jackson. He was born in Brookhaven on Feb. 27, 1935, to Earl J. and Lillie Louise Laird Smith. He was a veteran of the United States Army and had retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber Co. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Louis Smith and Shirley Smith. Survivors are his wife, Janet Smith, of Natchez; his daughter, Regina Rand and husband Donald, of Natchez; his son, Reggie Smith and wife Denise, of Vidalia, La.; his grandchildren, Ashlea Rand, Shelby Smith and Bo Smith; his sisters, Pauline Falvey, of Brookhaven, Yvonne Cothren, of Natchez, and Marjorie Haney, of Crosby; a special aunt, Tommie Laird, of Natchez; very special in-laws; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Gary Smith, Adrian Day, Kenny Jackson, Lavonne Hamilton, Tracey Whitehead and Bubba Dill. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Byrd, Jack Whitehead, and employees of Great River Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC. The family extends special thanks to Dr. Edward Daly, Dr. John P. O'Brien, Dr. Kenneth Stubbs and employees at Natchez Regional Medical Center; the employees and doctors of the MICU at University Medical Center; Dr. Rajesh Patel; special nurses Shauna and Connie; and employees of Select Specialty Hospital.
