He married Fern Charlene Krigbaum August 26, 1939 in Hannibal, Marion Co, MO. Fern was born September 28, 1921 in Hannibal, Marion Co., MO. Fern was the daughter of Charles Allen Moore and Nora Ellen Ward. Fern died September 30, 2003 in Hannibal, Marion Co., MO. Obit: Fern Charlene Ashburn, 82, of Hannibal, died at 5:34 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at Grand View Burial Park. The Rev. Jeff Anderson will officiate.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services Friday at Smith Funeral Home and Chapel in Hannibal.
Mrs. Ashburn was born Sept. 28, 1921, in Hannibal to Charles Moore and Nora Moore Krigbaum.
She was married to Charles Eugene (Gene) Ashburn on Aug. 26, 1939, in Hannibal. He preceded her in death Dec. 22, 1995.
Survivors include one son, Ronald Ashburn and wife, Lynda, of Hannibal; two grandchildren, Ben Ashburn and wife, Jennifer, of Warrensburg, and Megan Duncan and husband, Shawn, of Hannibal; and two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Katie Ashburn.
She was preceded in death by one son, Terry Ashburn; two brothers, Cecil Moore and Gene Moore; and two sisters, Lena Moore and Golden Smith.
Mrs. Ashburn was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She formerly worked at International Shoe Company Rubber Plant and later worked at the Jupiter Store in downtown Hannibal.
Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
Charles Eugene Ashburn and Fern Charlene Krigbaum had the following children:
