Jeanne died September 5, 2008 in Grinnell, Poweshiek Co., IA. OBIT: Jeanne Gosselink, 82 of Grinnell and formerly of Lynnville, passed away Friday, September 5, 2008 at the Mayflower Care Center in Grinnell. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Friends Church in Lynnville with Pastor Robert Morris officiating. Visitation will begin after 3:00 P.M. Monday, September 8, 2008 at the Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday evening. Interment will be at the Woodland Cemetery in Lynnville. Memorials may be made to the Mayflower Care Center. Jeanne Lorene Gosselink, daughter of John and Mary (Allgood) Lester was born September 14, 1925 in Barnes City, Iowa. She graduated from Rose Hill High School in 1943. After graduating she attended William Penn and received her teachers' certificate. Jeanne taught country schools in the Oskaloosa and Rose Hill area for three years. On January 13, 1945 she was united in marriage to Russell Gosselink in New Sharon. To this union three children were born, Barb, Darrell and Beverly. After they were married, they farmed in the Oskaloosa and Lynnville area for several years. During the time they farmed Jeanne held several part time jobs. She worked at the Lynnville Vet Clinic, Lynnville State Bank and she sold Avon. In 1968, Russell and Jeanne bought a grocery store in Lynnville, Gosselink's Grocery. In 1998 they sold the store and retired. She belonged to the Lynnville Women's Club, T.O.P.S. and was a Brownie leader for several years. Jeanne enjoyed sewing, cooking, bowling, square dancing and making quilts for her grandchildren.
Her memory is honored by her husband of 63 years, Russell; two daughters, Barb (Jerry) Downey of Illinois City, Illinois and Beverly Gosselink of Oskaloosa; a son, Darrell (Gwen) Gosselink of Newton, 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a sister, Geraldine (Fred) Hulbert of Oskaloosa.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Lester; two brothers, Herschel and Dwight Lester; a sister, Ruth Lester and a great grandchild, Logan.
She married Russell E. Gosselink January 13, 1945 in New Sharon, Mahaska Co., IA. Russell was born October 21, 1925 in Schaller, Sac Co., IA. Russell is the son of Edward Gosselink and Gertrude (___).
